A little flooding this afternoon from Tropical Storm Barry. This was just before high tide, which is coming up in a few moments.

In other news, we found this guy in cuffs in front of our neighbors house… Whatever that is about…

Supposedly he had sped through once and was told to slow down and failed to do so. On his second trip back, he did it again so they chased him down in their off road vehicle…

So, caught this little gem from NewsMax. According to US Senator Mary L. Landrieu (D-La.), the incompetence of New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (D), and Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco (D) rests solely on the Bush administrations hatred toward mass transit.

Yeah, that makes sense…

It was the Bush administration’s fault that hundreds of city school buses weren’t dispatched to evacuate the hurricane-battered residents of New Orleans two weeks ago before floods swamped the city, Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu said Sunday.

Asked on “Fox News Sunday” why New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin failed to follow the city’s evacuation plan and press the buses into service, Landrieu blamed Bush administration cuts in mass transit funding.

Story Continues Below

“Mayor Nagin and most mayors in this country have a hard time getting their people to work on a sunny day, let alone getting them out of the city in front of a hurricane,” she said. “And it’s because this administration and administrations before them do not understand the difficulties that mayors . . . face.”

Oh, so it’s Bush’s fault that the bus drivers don’t show up for work?

Landrieu then added: “In other words, this administration did not believe in mass transit. They won’t even get people to work on a sunny day, let alone getting them out.”

Saying she was unwilling to criticize Louisiana officials, the Louisiana Democrat insisted that Mayor Nagin’s evacuation efforts had been a smashing success.

“Because the mayor evacuated the city, we had the best evacuation . . . of any evacuation I’ve seen. I’m 50 years old; I’ve never seen one any better,” Landrieu told FNS.

That prompted FNS host Chris Wallace to remind: “But there were a hundred thousand people left in the city.”

Landrieu once again blamed the White House, saying:

“They did [have] a hundred thousand people left in the city because this federal government won’t support cities to evacuate people, whether it’s from earthquakes, tornadoes, or hurricanes. And that’s the truth.”

Since when do we evacuate people from earthquakes and tornadoes? How the hell do you even do that?

The simple fact is, New Orleans is a party town. The city and it’s workers are notorious for their lax work ethic and horrible leadership and it’s finally bitten them in the butt.

The pictures were taken at 8:30PM or there abouts.

The Vinoy docks are toast…

Dead grouper, woulda’ made a nice catch.

In any case, let the Shore Acres Flood begin! At about 6:00AM the wife noticed we were getting water in the streets, high tide was at 6:36AM, so that should be good news… However, it’s 12:28PM right now and even though low tide was at 10:21AM the water continues to rise.

This is caused, most likely, by the winds from Dennis pushing water into the bay and subsequently up the storm drains into the streets. My back yard is bone dry (thanks to my wonderful geo-engineering, or just because there is no direct access to the streets back there…

Expecting some fun at 4:35PM with another high tide. Maybe Dennis will start to pull some of the water back by that time, but probably not.

Here are some pictures, enjoy my pain!
