iPhone 3G soft unlock completed

The folks over at the iphone-dev.org site are reporting they have a successful soft unlock for the iPhone 3G baseband. This means no physical modifications, no void warranties, and the freedom to choose whatever carrier you want.
They plan or releasing the unlock on New Year’s Eve (2008). I’ll wait and see how everyone else fairs with it before jumping in with both feet!
The unlock will require iPhone 3Gs that have 2.11.07 baseband or earlier and jailbroken.

New Apple In-Ear Headphones Now Shipping

It seems like Apple is contradicting itself a little more each day, in a good way mind you. I just noticed today on Apple’s home page that they are now shipping their new New Apple In-Ear Headphones for Gen 4 and up iPods (no iPhone). The new headphones feature two separate “high-performance” drivers; a woofer to handle bass and mid-range sounds and a tweeter for high-frequency audio, removable stainless steel mesh caps that protect the components from dust and debris, and probably the most important new soft, silicone ear tips.
